Pre-Kindergarten Our classroom is a wonderful, fun, colorful and Christ-like environment. A Day in the Life of a TAA Pre-K Student… Our morning begins with a warm welcome to the parents and students. We begin our worship with singing, marching and playing the musical instruments. Stories are read about Jesus and then a discussion follows. A student is chosen each morning to do the prayer and to take prayer requests. Their memory verse on the board is recited 2 or 3 times. They recite the pledge of allegiance and sing ‘My Country Tis of Thee’.
Our morning continues on with our basic academics. Math, which consists of recognizing, counting, sorting, adding and drawing their numbers. Our Pre –K students love the center time; blocks, art, puzzles, reading, drawing and play center (pretend cooking and shopping). They have Physical Education twice a week and on the days they don’t have PE, the students go out for recess, where they explore the playground by sliding, running, swinging, climbing and playing games. After recess we return back to our classroom for calendar time which begins with what month are we in and how many days are in the month (counting). They also do the days of the week and the months of the year. We also repeat them in Spanish. They enjoy learning their ABC’s along with sounds and shapes of ABC’s. Moving right along we begin our Language Arts, where we learn by coloring, painting, drawing or creating crafts. Our lunch time begins with prayer and song. Their hands are washed and lunch is served. After lunch time is over, the students wash their hands again and we set up for naptime which lasts about 45 minutes. After naptime we have story time and a class discussion of what was read. Pre-K’s favorite time again is centers. Later on in the afternoon, we focus on social studies or science. We go to afternoon recess for 20 – 30 minutes. We then return back to the classroom to clean up and pack up for after care or home.
The VPK program has many wonderful benefits. It helps by supplementing parent’s income so their children can receive a good early childhood, Christ-centered education that will help them get ready for their next step in their education and prepare them for heaven.
